An ultra-low-CG chassis with optimal weight distribution allows Jato 4X4 to corner on rails with predictable handling at every turn. Outfitted with Traxxas’ toughest Extreme HD components, Jato 4X4 is equipped to transform extreme 4s Velineon® horsepower into all-day fun.
Jato 4X4 packs the same Velineon 540XL brushless motor found in the Maxx® extreme monster truck. It’s the largest motor Traxxas has ever offered in a buggy, and it’s backed by a new VXL-4s™ speed control with built-in telemetry and selectable 6.0 or 7.4-volt BEC. With 4s LiPo power on tap, Jato 4X4 VXL defies the laws of physics as it rockets its way to 60 mph and beyond with unrelenting acceleration.
Jato 4X4 VXL sits low and wide, concentrating its weight below the driveshafts for razor-sharp handling and perfect weight distribution. Aluminum XX-long GTR shocks in the front and rear maximize traction by keeping Jato 4X4 VXL’s ultra-soft Response Pro tires in constant contact with the ground. Add the optional sway bar kit (sold separately) for flat cornering and game-changing track performance.
Factory-installed Extreme Heavy Duty driveline and suspension components give Jato 4X4 VXL all the durability of Traxxas’ toughest offroad trucks. An aluminum T-Bar reinforces the chassis with Extreme HD shock towers to support the suspension. Huge Maxx-Duty® driveshafts transform the 540XL motor’s brutal torque into massive 4-wheel roost without breaking a sweat.
Jato 4X4 VXL’s form-fitted clipless body cuts through the wind and eliminates the parachuting effect for stable performance at speed. Tough clipless side latches hold the body securely in place but release in just seconds for fast battery swaps. Jato 4X4 VXL incorporates the high-downforce wing from Sledge® to keep its chassis planted with rugged rollover protection as an added benefit.
Jato 4X4 VXL’s sleek, cab forward body incorporates Sledge's high-downforce wing for extra high-speed stability. Wedged side pods provide additional front downforce for increased steering response.
Jato 4X4 VXL rides on 3″ dished wheels with large 4.5″ sticky S1-compound Response Pro buggy tires for game-changing traction and control. The outside row of spikes is contoured to provide just the right amount of side bite for smooth, predictable turn-in. The wheels' 17 mm hub design creates a large contact area for extra grip to resist rounding.
Jato 4X4 VXL's heavy-duty shock towers are beefed up with double-shear link mounts and extra material to withstand rollovers without incident. The front shock caps are protected under reinforcing ridges and the molded wing locks directly into the rear tower for extra rigidity.
A fixed gear adapter take the guesswork out of setting your gear mesh with five preset gearing positions. Insert the motor screw through the desired gearing position for a perfect gear mesh every time. The fixed positioning also keeps the gear mesh tight, even after the harshest impacts.
Jato 4X4 VXL uses a rugged clipless body latching system for secure mounting and easy removal. Four side latches lock the body firmly in place to eliminate wobble and flutter at high speeds. The aggressive aero body comes pre-painted and cut with decals already applied.
Jato 4X4 VXL borrows a page from Sledge’s top-spec engineering with an ultra-rigid T-Bar chassis stiffener design made from tough 6061-T6 aluminum. The T-Bar delivers cross-sectional stiffness no round tube can match with a laser-etched Traxxas logo for a refined look.
The Extreme Heavy Duty Upgrade Kit comes factory-installed on Jato 4X4 VXL for ultimate strength and durability. The axle carriers, C-hubs, and steering blocks are beefed up with more material and stronger construction.
A waterproof receiver box keeps the receiver safe and dry while still allowing easy access for maintenance. The antenna and servo wires route neatly through a patented water-tight seal for true all-weather fun.
The TQi 2.4 GHz radio system stores up to thirty models in memory, allowing you to use one transmitter for your entire RC garage. In the event of signal loss, the receiver automatically returns the throttle to neutral and holds the last steering position.
Agile handling requires a steering servo that’s both strong and fast. The included 2075 digital high-speed, high-torque servo features ball bearings for precise control and quick reflexes.
The dual-bellcrank design pivots smoothly even in the harshest conditions. An integrated cam-type servo saver protects the steering servo from crash impacts without sacrificing steering precision.
Hex-drive hardware provides a more positive and secure connection than other fasteners. The black-oxide coating provides a rust resistant high-tech look and feel.
GTR shocks represent the peak of racing technology. The PTFE-coated aluminum shock bodies are color matched to the truck and hold over 70% more oil than Ultra Shocks for consistent damping. X-ring seals keep oil in and dirt out for smooth suspension action. Spring preload and ride height changes are as simple as turning the threaded collars.
Molded from our toughest composite material, Jato 4X4 VXL’s heavy-duty suspension arms provide just the right amount of flex to resist breaking, even in cold weather! From skate parks to 10-foot ramps, these suspension arms stand up to even the most punishing drivers for non-stop fun behind the wheel.
Jato 4X4 VXL’s aerodynamic bulkhead cover incorporates mounts for the optional sway bar (sold separately). Low-profile skid plates in the front and rear give Jato 4X4’s suspension maximum down travel while reducing the risk of snagging and scraping.
Jato 4X4 VXL uses XX-long GTR shocks at all four corners for ultra-plush suspension travel to swallow up bumps and deliver incredible control. Performance-optimized suspension components provide maximum articulation without binding or interference.
Jato 4X4 VXL utilizes full contact sealed bearings throughout the driveline to keep out the grime and grit. Less downtime for cleaning and maintaining bearings equals more run time and more fun.
The Torque-Biasing Center Drive absorbs shocks to improve driveline durability and distributes equal power to all four wheels for mind-bending acceleration. Unlike traditional center differentials which allow unloaded tires to balloon uncontrollably, the Torque-Biasing Center Drive delivers seamless power to all four wheels.
Jato’s 4X4 VXL’s driveline is overbuilt with large steel pinion and spur gears for maximum reliability no matter how much power you pour on.
Jato 4X4 VXL’s 17 mm aluminum hex hubs create a large contact area for maximum grip on the wheel. Their splined design interlocks with the wheels using aluminum lock nuts that won’t let go. Best of all, the hubs are compatible with most 1/8 scale buggy wheels using a traditional 17 mm hub design. Installation and removal are quick and painless with the included wheel wrench.
Jato 4X4 VXL’s Maxx-duty® driveshafts with beefed-up U-joints are built to handle massive 4s brushless power without breaking a sweat. Large 6 mm axles lock into the included 17 mm splined aluminum wheel hexes for unmatched strength and durability.
Sealed front and rear differentials utilize steel-gear internals for maximum durability. Silicone gaskets and X-ring seals allow you to tune the amount of locking action by varying the viscosity of the fluid inside the differentials.
